Slim Support for Ann Curry Exit from Today

Tracked:
Jun 15, 2012 - Jun 25, 2012

Recently, month old rumors were confirmed regarding NBC’s decision to replace the Today Show’s co-anchor Ann Curry with the 9 a.m. hour co-host, Savannah Guthrie. Viewing conversations on social media channels, very few mentions on social media channels stand behind the decision to remove Curry from NBC's morning show.

The overwhelming majority of users are supportive of Curry with just less than 10 percent of mentions agreeing with the decision to cut her from the show. Of the remaining 90 percent, an estimated 22 percent say NBC should fire someone else instead of Curry, while others say they will stop watching the NBC if Ann Curry leaves (19 percent). The largest group of around 40 percent, shared general support for Curry.

An additional group of roughly 10 percent, feel that Curry brought a level of serious news to the show, and are concerned that the addition of Guthrie will add more fluff.

Very Few Positive on Instagram Acquisition

Tracked:
Apr 9, 2012 - Apr 10, 2012

Facebook surprised many with their $1 Billion acquisition of the popular mobile photography app Instagram. Looking on Twitter, there were a wide range of responses, but one thing is clear – far more mentions of the deal paint it in a negative light rather than a positive one.

According to a search on Twitter, negative reactions outnumber positive reactions roughly three-to-one. Of the negative reactions, the largest group expressed their distrust of Facebook, and the next largest group was so upset that they are planning to delete their Instagram profiles.
