No Clear Front Runner in GOP VP Search

With Mitt Romney’s main rivals stepping down in the race for the Republican presidential momination, conversations have turned to who will join Mitt on the ticket in November. While a few well-known candidates are drawing some support, conversations on social media appear heavily divided on the GOP's vice presidential pick.
 
Interestingly, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and former Secretary of State Condi Rice each account for roughly 20% of the conversation. Social media users find Governor Bush appealing because of his pedigree and record, while Ms. Rice more closely aligns with Romney’s ideology. Mentions of Marco Rubio were slightly less frequent at around 15%.
 
Additionally, there were a number of VP hopefuls mentioned, including Chris Christie, Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Kelly Ayotte, Rick Santorum and others, that failed to garner a significant percentage of the conversation. Mentions of this group as a whole, however, did account for almost half of all conversations.
 
Indeed, following a drawn out primary, the GOP may be as divided over who the number 2 on the ticket should be as they were over their nominee.

Much Delight Over POTUS's Same-sex Marriage Stance

Within minutes of President Obama expressing his support for same-sex marriage on Wednesday, social media feeds burst with commentary about the controversial stance. Nearly half of online opinion stated that the announcement was no surprise coming from the sitting president and even way past due, according to a PoliPulse monitor that measured online sentiment about the president's statement. Another fifth of online sentiment noted that Obama's announcement puts him in contrast to Mitt Romney.
